Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork - Asian Food Chinese Recipe
Asian recipe, Sweet and Sour chicken or pork, grilled pineapple and

red bell peppers with a tropical sweet and sour sauce.

 


 

Ingredient List:

1 C. 

Hawaiian Sweet and Sour Sauce (Starport 215) 

12 oz.     

Chicken breast, breast boneless, skinless, sliced 1.5"x1"x1/2"

3/4 C. 

Crispy Seasoning Batter (Starport 354)

8 oz.

Pineapple, fresh, cut to wedges then grilled and cut to 1" chunks

1 med.      Red bell pepper, 1" square

Instructions:

 

  1. Char pineapple wedges on grill or in broiler about 45 seconds and cut to 1” chunks.

  2. Coat chicken evenly with Crispy Seasoning Batter and set aside.

  3. Just before frying, roll chicken in Crispy Seasoning Batter again to pick up more batter.

  4. Deep fry battered chicken @ 350 F. 2-3 minutes and remove. This step can be done earlier in the day and refrigerated until ready for use.

  5. For second frying: when oil temperature returns to 350 F, refry chicken 2-3 minutes until golden and done.

  6. Remove chicken and drain off excess oil.

  7. Oil blanch bell peppers in 350F oil 10 seconds and remove.

  8. Heat a wok or pan on medium high heat; add in Hawaiian Sweet & Sour Sauce, bring to a boil.

  9. Add in grilled pineapple, oil blanched red bell pepper and fried chicken chunks, toss with sauce quickly remove and serve immediately.

  10. Garnish with green onions or cilantro sprig.
